UFC Fight Night is scheduled for Abu Dhabi in August!
The last global UFC tournament in the UAE took place in the fall of 2023. That time, the main fight of the evening was the confrontation between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski. Makhachev knocked out his opponent in the first round. So far, the organizers have not announced the full composition of the main and additional cards, but history shows that all fights in the UAE attract a stellar line-up of participants, and there will be no exception in August.
At the moment, the official list of invited athletes has not yet been announced, but a wide range of participants is expected. In the past, the arena has hosted such stars as Khamzat Chimaev, Kamaru Usman, Magomed Ankalaev, Johnny Walker, Said Nurmagomedov, Muin Gufurov, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Israel Adesanya and many others.
The UFC has been visiting the UAE for the fifth year in a row, and each time attracts thousands of spectators in the hall and an audience of millions in front of TV screens or online. It is known that Russian fighters always participate in title fights.
An agreement between the UFC and the UAE authorities was signed in 2019. According to it, the American promotion is obliged to hold one championship fight annually. Locals and tourists alike are passionate about the world of MMA, and fighting has become an integral part of the entertainment alongside shopping, exhibitions and concerts.
In 2021, the first fight took place at the Etihad Arena, which has already become legendary.
In 2024, UFC and the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism have extended their cooperation. Now the UFC is obliged to hold additional events in the Emirates called “Fight Night”. The agreement will run until 2028, meaning MMA fans can expect many more exciting fights at the Etihad Arena.
